David Parks, Roshi

Rev. David Parks, Roshi is the Director of Bluegrass Zen centered in Waco, Kentucky where David keeps a small farm. He has sitting groups in Lexington and Berea, Kentucky.  As a spiritual director and now as a koan teacher he has had 34 years of experience in accompanying others along life’s path. He spent 36 years as a minister in the United Church of Christ before devoting all his time and attention to teaching Zen with the Pacific Zen Institute.  David has a deep trust in life’s generosity and sees koans as vehicles for transformation, opening the heart/mind to the intimate experience of life lived freely and fully.

David has developed a curriculum using the parables, sayings, and doings of Jesus as Christian koans.
